Jaquel Patterson, Naturopathic Doctor
Dr. Patterson has a diverse background in public health administration and naturopathic medicine. She studied applied economics and management at Cornell University, and after working in the business field enrolled at the University of Bridgeport College of Naturopathic Medicine to pursue her true life passion. At UBCNM, she developed a strong interest in public health and served as health chair for the National Association for the Advancement of Colored People (NAACP) in Greater Bridgeport. She also holds an MBA in healthcare management from Quinnipiac University.
After graduation from UBCNM, Dr. Patterson worked in healthcare administration at Morris Heights Health Center in Bronx, New York. Currently she is director of operations and compliance officer at Norwalk Community Health Center. She is an adjunct professor at UBCNM and maintains a private practice in Norwalk, Connecticut.
Dr. Patterson serves as a subject matter expert for Community Health Care Association of Connecticut. She was appointed by the health commissioner to serve on the state of Connecticut’s Provider Advisory Group for Patient Centered Medical Homes within the Department of Social Services.
Dr. Patterson has served on several boards including the national board for Sickle Cell Disease Association of America, NAACP, advisory council for Sickle Cell Disease Association of Southern Connecticut, and as a health leadership fellow for Connecticut Health Foundation. She was active on several committees with the Community Health Care Association during her time in New York and has been featured in articles and radio shows including Your Health Magazine and Bottom Line on Your Health.
Dr. Patterson has participated in state and federal lobbying efforts for expanding the scope of naturopathic medicine. She served as Naturopathic Medical Student Association (NMSA) public health chair and has been a featured panelist at Association of Accredited Naturopathic Medical Colleges (AANMC) webinars and informational forums for prospective naturopathic medical students.
Dr. Patterson will give a presentation at the AANMC Forum for Prospective Naturopathic Medical Students, held in conjunction with the American Association of Naturopathic Physicians’ (AANP) annual conference, July 13, 2013 in Keystone, Colo. Registration is now open.
