Peter Bongiorno, Naturopathic Doctor & Licensed Acupuncturist

Peter Bongiorno Dr. Bongiorno is passionate about raising awareness and gaining licensing for naturopathic physicians in New York State and has served as vice-president of the New York Association of Naturopathic Physicians (NYANP) since 2007. In 2008, he was selected as the NYANP’s Physician of the Year. Dr. Bongiorno is also a member of the American Association for Naturopathic Physicians and Physicians for Social Responsibility and is a Diplomat in Acupuncture. He is licensed as an acupuncturist in New York and holds his physician’s license in Washington State.

Dr. Peter Bongiorno graduated from Bastyr University after completing five years of training in naturopathic medicine and acupuncture. Before medical school, he worked as a researcher at Yale University and then in the Clinical Neuroendocrinology Branch of the Mental Health Institute at the National Institutes of Health in Bethesda, Md. He did his pre-medical studies and received Bachelors degrees in Biology and English Literature from Fairfield University in Connecticut.

Dr. Bongiorno is a major contributor to the Textbook of Natural Medicine, 3rd ed. He has also authored and co-authored original articles on Parkinson’s Disease, natural medicine for depression and the scientific research of natural health. Dr. Bongiorno is co-medical director of InnerSource Natural Health and has offices in Manhattan and Long Island. He started this practice five years ago with his wife, Dr. Pina LoGiudice. Dr. Bongiorno focuses on adult chronic disease and prevention, and Dr. LoGiudice works with women's health, fertility support and holistic pediatrics.

Dr. Bongiorno regularly teaches students in the Mount Sinai School Arts and Sciences of Medicine program, and has lectured at the American Association of Naturopathic Physicians conference and CAM Expo in New York City. He has also guest lectured at New York Medical College, the University of Medicine and Dentistry in New Jersey and New York University School of Medicine. Dr. Bongiorno is an adjunct faculty member at the Natural Gourmet Institute for Food and Health. He has been interviewed on national television and local television, radio and national media.

Peter enjoys playing drums and recording new music, exercising and enjoying life with his with wife and daughter, Sophia. He especially enjoys making time for a good breakfast with friends and family.
