(September 2009) - On September 28, 2009, Jane Guiltinan, ND, will become dean of the School of Naturopathic Medicine at Bastyr University. Dr. Guiltinan has previously served as a clinical professor at Bastyr, teaching gynecology and providing clinical supervision for naturopathic medical students.
Dr. Guiltinan graduated from Bastyr University in 1986 and since that time, her career has been marked by accomplishments. She served as the medical co-director for the King County Natural Medicine Clinic, the first publicly funded integrated health clinic in the United States. She shared the Blackmore International Award for Outstanding Research in Natural Medicine in 1990 and was named 1995 Physician of the Year by the American Association of Naturopathic Physicians (AANP). In 1998, Dr. Guiltinan was the first naturopathic physician in the United States appointed to the board of trustees at a public hospital. She was elected to the AANP Board of Directors in 2002 and served as president from 2006 to 2007. In 2008, Dr. Guiltinan received Bastyr University's Joseph E. Pizzorno Jr. Founder's Award for distinguished service to the University and the naturopathic medicine profession.
Bastyr University is excited to have Dr. Guiltinan take on her new role as dean and knows she will continue to play a role in shaping the profession of naturopathic medicine.
