Student Profile

Chip Halverson, Naturopathic Medical Student, Class of 2010

Chip Halverson, ND StudentChip is a fourth-year student in the Naturopathic Medicine program at National College of Natural Medicine. During his time at NCNM, he has focused on researching detoxification protocols as a research investigator, as well as serving on the health and safety committee and as student body president.

Chip’s interest in detoxification comes from over a decade of activism supporting indoor environmental quality (IEQ) in schools. Both the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) and the National Education Association have presented Chip with national awards for his work. He is a regional and national speaker on the issues surrounding IEQ as it pertains to occupant health and is currently working with a coalition of experts in securing an IEQ EPA grant for Oregon schools. Chip feels that a big part of detoxification involves removing the sources of exposure, starting with improving the home, school and work environments. Unquestionably, Chip is a strong supporter of natural medicine and is part of a research team at NCNM’s Helfgott Research Institute evaluating the physiological outcomes of detoxification diets.

Chip and his wife, Dayle, have three young children who enjoy traveling and most outdoor activities.
