Francisco Heredia, Naturopathic Medical Student, Class of 2011
Francisco Heredia is a third-year student at Southwest College of Naturopathic Medicine (SCNM), in Tempe, Ariz. A native of Mexico, he was raised in the Los Angeles area and earned a Bachelor of Arts in Sociology and an MPA from California State University, Long Beach, as well as completing two years of basic science prerequisites at East Los Angles College.
Francisco’s interest in student activism and social justice issues led him to work in the field of grassroots community organizing for nearly 10 years. After a long process of research and introspection, he left his organizing career in 2007 to enroll at SCNM. Francisco intends to open clinics in several underserved communities that will serve as catalysts for activism, community health and personal growth.
When taking a break from studying naturopathic medicine, Francisco enjoys yoga and instructing others in Latin dance.
