Kristen Marvin, Naturopathic Medical Student, Class of 2014
Kristen Marvin is a third-year naturopathic student at National University of Health Sciences in Chicago, Ill. She is active in the Naturopathic Medical Student Association (NMSA) and served as the 2012-2013 chapter treasurer. She is also a student member of the American Association of Naturopathic Physicians (AANP) and the Illinois Association of Naturopathic Physicians (ILANP).
Prior to entering ND school, Kristen received a scholarship to play women’s basketball at Friends University in Wichita, Kan., where she received her BS in health management. During her athletic career she was a two-time First Team All-Conference player as well as an Academic All-American.
After graduation, Kristen worked for four years in a primary care clinic and obtained invaluable hands-on patient care experience. Kristen learned a great deal from her conventional medicine colleagues but decided to attend ND school after being drawn to the principles of naturopathic medicine. Her areas of focus at NUHS are nutrition and disease prevention.
Kristen’s favorite activities outside of her studies include traveling, good food and wine, thought-provoking conversation and watching college basketball.
