Student Profile

Terry Fong, Naturopathic Medical Student, Class of 2011

Terry Fong is a third-year student at the Southwest College of Naturopathic Medicine & Health Sciences (SCNM) in Tempe, Arizona.

Her love of science, nature and people led her major in Biology and Psychology during her undergraduate career at the University of Illinois in Urbana-Champaign. She continued her education at the University of Illinois at Chicago and received a Masters of Science in Occupational Therapy. She has published research on topics pertaining to chronic illness, chronic fatigue syndrome and multiple sclerosis.

Years of practice as an occupational therapist in hospitals across the country made Terry realize that conventional medicine and palliative therapies was not enough for her patients: she decided that naturopathic medicine was the answer.

After graduating from SCNM, Terry hopes to return to Illinois, where she will focus on chronic illness, environmental medicine, drug addiction and mental health.
